Munich Airport is a major international airport near Munich, the capital of Bavaria. The second busiest airport in Germany after Frankfurt, and the seventh busiest airport in Europe, it handled close to 45 million passengers in 2017.

Located 28.5 km northeast of Munich, near Freising, it is named after the former Bavarian minister-president, Franz Josef Strauss, who was born in Munich.
