Caring for Your Skin In-Flight

How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated and Healthy
As those who travel frequently will know, flying can wreak havoc with your skin. The combination of altitude and artificial cabin pressure can reduce blood flow and dull your complexion, while the recycled and dehydrating air (humidity on a plane hovers around 10% to 20%, compared to 30 to 60% on the ground) can zap skin of moisture.

Fortunately, your skin is protected from the worst of these effects with the NetJets fleet. This is due to a number of factors. Firstly, cabins are designed to simulate the pressure of around 6,000 feet above sea level and have higher humidity levels than commercial airplanes; this effectively reduces the risk of dehydration and dry skin, as well as the general effects of jet lag. Secondly, our specially curated menus are intelligently created to provide you with delicious and nutritious food that will keep skin healthy from the inside out. And lastly, we stock a range of incredibly hydrating Aesop skincare products on-board to ensure you arrive with fresh, well-hydrated skin.

While your skin has a built-in advantage with NetJets, there are a number of steps you can take in-flight to help give your skin a boost.

Keep hydrated
Drinking an abundance of water both prior to and during your flight are essential to keeping skin hydrated and clear. The cabin’s lower humidity and thinner air may cause you to lose over a litre of water over a 10 hour flight, so ensure you are drinking enough to replace this.

Try to wear minimal makeup
Makeup may block your pores when you are flying so try not to wear any if possible or remove it once on-board.

Apply a facial cleanser and rich moisturiser
Once in-air, use a creamy cleanser to gently remove dirt and debris without stripping or over-exfoliating skin. Follow up with a rich moisturiser to replenish and rehydrate your skin and avoid dehydration or irritation. Reapply every hour or so throughout the flight to ensure skin is smooth, soft, and protected.

We provide a wide range of luxurious Aesop skincare products on-board so you will be able to cleanse and moisturise with minimal effort, to maximum effectiveness.

Don't forget to use sunscreen
Studies have shown the sun's rays can penetrate airplane windows, leaving you just as exposed to UV light as you would be outside, so make sure to apply sunscreen throughout your flight.

Keep your hands and lips hydrated
Ensure your lips are hydrated and nourished by applying a lip balm throughout your flight. Aesop’s Rosehip Seed Lip Cream is enriched with Vitamin E to hydrate and condition dry lips. Likewise, keep hands soft and moisturised with the Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm, a fragrant, skin-softening balm that delivers rich hydration to the hands and cuticles.

Apply a face mask
If you are looking for an extra layer of moisture and protection, apply a face mask in-flight. The Blue Chamomile Facial Hydrating Masque from Aesop has an intensely hydrating formulation that will replenish moisture and soften the skin.
