August 2018

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the US Open Tennis Championship. The fourth and final tournament of this year’s Grand Slam is set to provide two weeks of sensational tennis from the world’s greatest players. Starting on the 27th of August and lasting two weeks, the Open will close on Sunday the 9th of September with the men’s final.

We have a number of tennis player ambassadors, and competitors this year include NetJets Owners Roger Federer, Angelique Kerber, and Sloane Stephens. All three of these incredible athletes promise to be top contenders for this year’s title and are competitors to keep an eye out for.

Angelique Kerber

Hot off a triumphant Wimbledon win that saw her beat Serena Williams, Kerber is set to be a real threat at this year’s US Open. After claiming her first win in New York two years ago, she’s already shown she knows how to handle herself on a hard court.
“[NetJets] gives me the freedom and flexibility to choose flight times that suit my hectic schedule, and the peace of mind that I can rest and recharge onboard a flight. This is vital when I come off the tennis court, and flying commercially would not offer me this luxury.
Angelique Kerber

Roger Federer

This living legend has already proven himself to be one of the world’s all-time greatest players. Since turning professional in 1998, he has gone on to win twenty Grand Slam singles titles—the most ever for any male. Having won a record five consecutive titles at the US Open, between 2004 and 2008, he is currently on great form and looks capable of claiming another victory this year.

Federer has been a NetJets Owner since 2004, crediting it as one of the “best decisions I’ve made.” In a career where a few hours of play dictate your travel plans, having access to a reliable, flexible service such as NetJets makes all the difference to athletes like Federer. As he says, “The moment match point is over there might be a change of plan and I can call NetJets and ask them if they can have a flight that day... Because they have such a huge fleet, flexibility is really easy with NetJets.”

As a well-known family man—his family almost always travels with him on tour—safety is obviously his main priority and one of the reasons why he chooses to fly with NetJets. He says, “NetJets does an amazing job of keeping us safe. Especially now, having family as well, I think it is crucial to feel comfortable when you get on the plane. But, I feel super safe; they take big precautions.”

Sloane Stephens

Sloane Stephens, the reigning US Open women’s singles champion, will be back this year to compete for her second title. Last year, the US Open was only her fifth tournament back-in-action after recovering from a foot injury. This illustrates her dedication to the game and commitment to success. We look forward to providing a seamless travel experience for Stephens as she focuses on beating the competition at this year’s tournament.

Flying around the world to compete in tournaments, all professional athletes push their bodies and their minds to the extreme. As they compete at the very highest level, we provide the highest level of care by helping manage their hectic schedules and complicated travel logistics. We provide a personalised travel experience and offer ultimate flexibility to accommodate their ever-changing timetables. With a world-class fleet at their demand and a number of private jets to choose from, these world-class players can singularly focus on their game.
“NetJets makes traveling effortless. All I need to focus on is my schedule, my training and my next match. I never need to worry about the logistics of where I’m going next - NetJets takes care of every detail.”
