March 2021

In the shared interest of future mobility solutions, we are pleased to announce that NetJets and FlightSafety International®, the premier professional aviation training company, are embarking on an exciting new collaboration with Aerion®, the leader in supersonic technology.

Together with Aerion, we will explore becoming the exclusive business jet operator for Aerion ConnectTM. A vision for a future global mobility ecosystem, Aerion Connect will integrate multiple currently siloed urban and regional networks and provide a seamless point-to-point travel experience optimized for speed and luxury across multiple modes of transportation. The development of Aerion Connect, and our partnership, is a significant step toward Aerion’s realizing its vision to connect any two points on Earth within three hours.

AS2 Supersonic Jet

Underlining the long-term focus of the partnership, we have also obtained rights to purchase 20 AS2® supersonic business jets. Production will begin in 2023, with the first flight expected in 2025. Designed to be the most environmentally responsible aircraft in history, the AS2—the world’s first supersonic business aircraft—is also the first certified aircraft designed for net-zero CO2 operating emissions, and the first supersonic aircraft that does not require afterburning engines. Furthermore, the aircraft will break the sound barrier, leveraging the Aerion-named technology Boomless CruiseTM. It takes advantage of Mach Cut Off, an atmospheric phenomenology in which the sonic boom refracts off denser, warmer layers of air, thereby allowing the AS2 to reach supersonic speeds over land without the potentially harmful “boom” ever reaching the ground.
How fast and how far can the AS2 fly?
  • Top speed:

    Mach 1.4

    (1,000+ mph)
  • Range at Mach 1.4:

    4,200 nm

    5,400 nm (at Mach 0.95)
  • New York to London:

    4.5 hours

  • New York to Moscow:

This announcement comes on the heels of our newly launched Global Sustainability Program, a worldwide commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of our brand and Owners with a focus on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) investment, and corporate and consumer offsetting. Aerion shares our commitment to usher in a new era of sustainable flight that is kind to the planet and part of the solution to reverse climate change. As part of this agreement, we will also work together on domestic and international actions intended to facilitate the global availability and broad adoption of synthetic aviation fuels.
