Our Programs & Aircraft

More than 55 years of leadership

and still going strong

While other companies come and go, NetJets has been an industry leader for more than a half-century. Founded as Executive Jet Airways in 1964, we invented the shared aircraft ownership concept, perfecting it for a small fleet then gradually expanding it to the more than 750 aircraft1 we operate today.

Our carefully managed growth has surpassed every other private operator many times over. There is literally nothing else like NetJets in the world. No other private flight provider comes close to our global reach, responsiveness, and commitment to safety.

Leadership is defined by

The complexity behind owner simplicity

We have a saying that “1,000 people touch every NetJets flight.” This is only a slight exaggeration.

Owner Services Teams, operations specialists, pilots, maintenance experts, and other aviation professionals work in concert to provide a seamless Owner experience, from flight request and ground transportation to departure and return.

A Legendary

Two decades after making an indelible mark on World War II, three retired military pilots set out to change the course of aviation history. In 1964, U.S. Air Force Generals Curtis LeMay and Paul Tibbets Jr., a pilot of the Enola Gay, and U.S. Army Air Corpsman Bruce Sundlun established NetJets’ forerunner, Executive Jet Airways (EJA). These key figures, together with the help of Hollywood celebrities Jimmy Stewart and Arthur Godfrey, built one of the world’s first aircraft-management businesses.

In 1984, Richard Santulli purchased EJA and two years later created the revolutionary concept of shared ownership. The business grew steadily as travelers chose the advantages of fractional jet ownership over the limitations of charter service and the challenging economics of whole aircraft ownership. Legendary investor Warren Buffett purchased his first share in 1995 and was so impressed with the service that he bought the company three years later, adding it to the Berkshire Hathaway family. EJA continued to add aircraft, facilities, and global programs while constantly seeking new ways to ensure the best safety and service for Owners. And in 2002, the company name was officially changed to NetJets Inc.
Today, NetJets continues to uniquely and expertly fill a crucial need: helping our Owners take care of what’s most important in their lives. As we add state-of-the-art aircraft worldwide and take every step possible to provide the most seamless and enjoyable travel experience, we will continue to meet and exceed our Owners’ expectations.
