A Look at the US Open Tennis Championships

Our Top Contenders for the 2018 Grand Slam

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the US Open Tennis Championships. The fourth and final tournament of this year’s tennis Grand Slam is set to provide two weeks of sensational competition from the world’s greatest players. Starting on Monday, August 27, and lasting two weeks, the US Open will close on Sunday, September 9, with the men’s final.

Competitors this year include NetJets Owners Angelique Kerber, Roger Federer, and Sloane Stephens. All three of these incredible athletes promise to be top contenders for this year’s title and are competitors to keep an eye out for. 

Angelique Kerber

Hot off a triumphant Wimbledon win that saw her beat Serena Williams, Kerber is set to be a real threat at this year’s US Open. After claiming her first win in New York two years ago, she’s already shown she knows how to handle herself on a hard court.

Roger Federer

Since turning professional in 1998, he has gone on to win 20 tennis Grand Slam singles titles—the most ever for any male. Having won a record five consecutive titles at the US Open between 2004 and 2008, he is currently on great form and looks capable of claiming another victory this year.
