COVID-19 Response Plan

Safety is, and always will be, our top priority
Note: This content is monitored daily and updated as needed.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a constantly changing landscape at NetJets, and we are taking all necessary precautions to mitigate the spread of the virus.

We’re completing hundreds of flights every day, making it absolutely paramount that we’re keeping our Owners and our employees safe. And while there are obvious health benefits inherent to private aviation, our teams are also working diligently to leverage the full resources of a company of our scale and financial strength.

Our COVID-19 Joint Response Team meets regularly to discuss relevant operational information, provide guidance to our staff, and make updates to our COVID-19 Response Plan. This website and our secure Owner Portal provide a wealth of information about our response to the pandemic and are updated regularly. Here are the precautions we are taking today:

NetJets will follow the guidance of the U.S. Department of State, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prohibit operations to locations it deems unsafe.

Owner Services Teams will evaluate all flight details, request some information about health history in relation to COVID-19, and ask for additional information concerning previous or future travel plans to provide the best-tailored travel advice. As an additional safeguard to all on board, crewmembers will review pre-screening details from Owner Services prior to boarding to ensure particulars have not changed.

While national airspace remains open to both commercial and private aviation, there are varying levels of response to COVID-19 from state and local governments across the country. We suggest that Owners understand the various implications before traveling, such as recommended or required self-quarantines and facial coverings. Your Owner Services Team is able to provide some assistance about the various requirements. It is important to note some states are requiring previous travel documentation upon arrival.

Travel will be allowed on a case-by-case basis following a proper risk assessment by the vice president of flight operations and vice president of safety. Restricted areas include the following countries:
  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore
  • South Korea

Beginning January 26, 2021, entry into the U.S. requires a negative COVID-19 test. Travelers will need to ensure that every passenger 2 years of age or older will be able to receive a test within 72 hours of the return flight and bring documentation of those tests for departure. Your Owner Services Team will have further information. The required form is available here

Because of the continued spread of COVID-19 in the U.S., residents of the U.S. have most recently not been permitted to enter the majority of the European Union. Americans may qualify for an exemption or be allowed to fly into specific locations with quarantine requirements. However, rules and regulations are constantly changing across the map. For the most up-to-date information, please reach out to your Owner Services Team.

  • In accordance with government directives, travel coming from portions of Europe will be prohibited for non-U.S. citizens and any non-lawful permanent resident of the United States
  • The restrictions apply to those who have been in the following countries 14 days before their planned arrival in the U.S. The countries affected include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
  • The ban does not apply to U.S. citizens returning home, nor to foreign nationals who are legal permanent residents of the U.S. Also exempt are foreign nationals who are married to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents; parents and guardians of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents aged under 21; brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, providing both are unmarried and under 21; and children or foster children of U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents

Through our partnership with MedAire®, our Owners, employees, and operations have access to expert medical advice 24/7

We have tested 100% of our crewmembers and will be offering ongoing testing to anyone who travels to high-risk locations, has been exposed to COVID-19, or becomes symptomatic. Furthermore, we will be providing opportunities for employees to be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.

Besides time spent in the cockpit, NetJets crewmembers and employees will wear coverings while performing duties in the presence of an Owner, which include, but are not limited to, greetings, safety briefings, and cabin service. Facial coverings must also be used by crewmembers and employees when required by local ordinances or businesses, such as FBOs. KN95 masks are also provided for crewmembers to wear while airlining or in other environments in which social distancing cannot be achieved.

Amid this global pandemic, we are leveraging our vast infrastructure to implement a logistical strategy that keeps our crewmembers healthy and meets the new realities of this very challenging time.
  • To curtail the risk of exposure, the avoidance of handshakes between our crew, Owners, passengers, and any supplier is recommended
  • By clustering aircraft at base locations where we have a high concentration of crewmembers, we enable crewmembers to report for duty and return home via their personal vehicle or a NetJets aircraft rather than by commercial airlines
  • Additionally, all crew travel is closely monitored; those exposed in any manner are prohibited from entering NetJets facilities and aircraft for 14 days and until they are no longer symptomatic
  • During stay-at-home orders, a work-from-home program was established for a vast majority of our office employees. For those who need to report to the office to complete their duties, we have taken extra steps to mitigate risks with additional disinfecting methods and increased spatial distance
  • We encourage everyone to remove themselves from duty to protect those around them. All employees, including our pilots and flight attendants, know that they do not need to worry about their paycheck if they require quarantine and/or medical attention due to a COVID-19 diagnosis
Crewmembers and employees who have been diagnosed with the coronavirus are prohibited from entering NetJets facilities or aircraft until deemed recovered by a physician. Meanwhile, the NetJets Employee Resource Center will work with the Human Resources Team and their designees to research contacts and make necessary notifications and accommodations for other crewmembers, employees, and passengers.

Across our network, hundreds of NetJets aircraft are going through our multi-tiered cleaning and disinfecting program in accordance with the guidelines of the CDC and WHO. This helps us ensure a clean and comfortable cabin for each flight.

For post-flight and pre-flight cleanings, our crewmembers use disinfectant-grade products that are EPA-approved and effective at killing the COVID-19 virus. Additionally, deep cabin cleanings are managed every night by the NetJets Maintenance Team.

NetJets treats its aircraft interiors with an antimicrobial barrier that provides lasting protection from various bacteria, germs, and viruses like the coronavirus. Its durability comes from the molecular bond it forms with surfaces once cured; however, as a safeguard, NetJets reapplies the product at a minimum of every 90 days.

While filter systems vary from aircraft to aircraft, all NetJets’ cabins circulate the onboard air with fresh outside air every 2–4 minutes. This time frame is based on various environmental factors (e.g., aircraft altitude, temperature). To compare, most office buildings do this every 15–20 minutes.

Any NetJets aircraft that return from a region identified by the CDC as high risk are immediately quarantined and professionally cleaned.
